Terence (Terry) James Harris joined the brewing industry in Bulawayo as a laboratory technician in 1967 and was transferred to South Africa in 1971 having passed the Institute of Brewing's Associate Certificate in 1970.
Completing his pupilship in 2 years at the Alrode and Isando breweries of SAB, Terry moved to Intercontinental Breweries' Chamdor plant in 1973 as firstly assistant brew-master and later brew-master.
He worked for ICB till the SAB take-over in 1979 in both production management and central support functions.
During his subsequent career, Terry occupied a wide range of positions and wrote a new SAB Brewing Manual outlining all mandatory raw material, in-process product, finished product specifications and methodology on a national basis.
Line Management functions (Production Manager or Technical Director) also took him to run the technical activities of several breweries where he managed and co-ordinated the activities of the Brewing, Packaging, Engineering Services and Quality Departments.
