Mary Bauer is the Head Brewer at the Lagunitas Brewery in Chicago, IL. The Chicago facility is capable of producing over 500,000 bbls of beer a year and growing.
Mary began her brewing career at Anheuser Busch InBev, in their research pilot brewery, and also spent 3-years at their Cartersville, GA, brewery. More recently, Mary worked for Pepsi in the warehouse and quality departments but wanted to get back to her true passion, that being beer. Mary was named to the Crain’s Chicago Business 2014 Top 40 under 40 List.
Chris Boggess has been the Head Brewer at 3 Floyd's Brewing Co. since December 2006, and is a partner at WarPigs Brew Pub in Copenhagen, Denmark.
From 1995 to 2006 he worked for Rock Bottom Brewing Company as Head Brewer/Senior Brewer of the Houston, Long Beach and Lombard locations.
Pete Crowley, co-owner and brewer of Haymarket Pub & Brewery, is a highly decorated brewer that has won over 50 local, national and international awards for his brewing creations including medals from the World Beer Cup, Great American Beer Festival and Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer.
With over 20 years in craft brewing, Pete has become especially known for pioneering work in creating specialty beers aged in bourbon barrels, a brewing technique that has evolved into a defining style range in the Midwest and increasingly throughout the US.
Josh Deth is Chairman of the Party at Revolution Brewing in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. Revolution Brewing operates two facilities, an award-winning brewpub and a 90,000 square foot production brewery that is rapidly expanding.
Previously he owned Handlebar, a small vegetarian bar and grill with a cozy beer garden and plenty of bike parking out back. After landing his first brewery job cleaning kegs at age 20, Josh later spent three years at Goose Island Beer Company. He also spent time as a community organizer, running the neighborhood chamber of commerce and growing the local farmers market.
Florian Kuplent has worked in a diverse range of environments over nearly 2 decades in the brewing industry. Starting as an apprentice in a small German brewery and a graduate of Weihenstephan University in Freising, Germany, Florian built his brewing knowledge working with such companies as Meantime Brewing Co. (UK), Brauerei Beck’s (Bremen, Germany), Brouwerij Moortgat (Breendonk, Belgium), and Mash (London, England).
Over several years with Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, MO, Florian was given free rein to experiment with new ingredients and different recipes at the brewery’s experimental microbrewery, where he created a series of award-winning craft beers under the Michelob label. Florian is now brewmaster and part owner of a brew pub and packaging brewery in St. Louis, MO, and a brewery in Wolnzach, Bavaria, in the Hallertau, all named Urban Chestnut.
John Mallett manages operations and beer production at Bell's Brewery Inc., in Kalamazoo MI. John has served in numerous capacities over his brewing career; as head brewer of Boston's Commonwealth Brewery, brewmaster for Old Dominion Brewing Co., in Ashburn, VA., and founder and President of SAAZ, an equipment and service provider for large and small breweries.
John has lectured and written extensively about the brewing industry, serves on many technical committees, is a widely known consulting resource, and is a recipient of the Institute for Brewing Studies Russell Schehrer Award for brewing innovation.
